In this course students will complete units in accounting, economics, finance, mathematics, statistics and actuarial studies in the first year. In subsequent years actuarial and other units will be studied in greater depth. The Macquarie actuarial program has been running successfully for over 40 years and many Macquarie actuarial graduates hold senior positions in the financial services industry in Australia and overseas. This course is suitable for students interested in work based on the application of mathematical, statistical, economic and financial analysis to a wide range of practical problems in long-term financial planning and management. Career opportunities include banking and finance; energy and environment; general and health insurance; investment; life insurance; management; non-traditional areas such as it, e-commerce, climate change; public sector: Australian prudential regulation authority, Australian taxation office; risk management; superannuation and wealth management.
Entry requirements:
Students should have advanced mathematics or equivalent. The required Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) for this course is 94.45. Students should also have a minimum IELTS (Academic English only) score of 6.5 overall, with 6.0 in each section; minimum TOEFL (paper based test) score of 580 overall, with 53 listening, 52 reading, 59 structure/written expression, 5.0 TWE; TOEFL (computer based test) score of 237 overall, with 19 listening, 19 reading, 25 structure/writing and TOEFL (internet based test) score of 92 overall, with 18 listening, 17 reading, 22 writing and 22 speaking.

The on-campus accommodation options comprise three residential colleges, namely the Dunmore Lang College, Robert Menzies College and the Macquarie University Village. The Dunmore Lang College provides study bedrooms on single sex and mixed corridors. The types of accomodation options offered are single- bedroom with private en suite bathroom and single-bedroom with shared communal bathroom facilities. 20 meals are also provided per week. Robert Menzies college has residential blocks with staff to provide pastoral and academic head. The Macquarie Parklands Residential Apartment complex, situated adjacent to the campus, provides fully furnished apartments, each accommodating up to four students. All residential centres are equipped with the basic kitchen and laundry facilities. The community rooms in each of the centres has facilities like television and recreational facilities like pool and table tennis tables.
